Being an artist takes courage and persistence, and even more so with the invention of AI permeating into many facets of work and living.

Featuring 5 artists (a Tintype Photographer, Bladesmith, Leather Artisan, Tattoo Artist, and Master Painter), “Outliers” shares their losses and their wins, and their tenacity to create regardless of the obstacles.

Artists have incredible power and responsibility and “Outliers” is a tribute to the makers of the world where their artistic endeavors are an innate part of who they are.

Abbriella LaFountain

Abbriella “Abby” LaFountain is a tattoo artist and photographer based in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. She runs Abbriella Ink, a private studio where she specializes in fully custom, client-centered tattoo sessions—emphasizing not just the time spent in the chair but thoughtful design, clear communication, and a personalized, exclusive experience.

Greg Shea

Greg Shea is a professional Tintype photographer and is an award-winning artist and craftsman with diverse creative interests including drawing and painting, digital and wet-plate collodion photography, portraiture, illustration, relief printmaking, sculpture, calligraphy. With his diverse talents, he works to capture an honest view of his subjects that is both pure and breathtaking.

Marc Anthony Massaro

Marc Massaro is an accomplished sculptor, portrait painter and educator, with a career spanning fifty plus years. Marc has more than 35 years of teaching experience and has been the Director of the Branford Art Studio for more than 20 years, while professionally painting and sculpting.

Gracia Hemans-Martin

Gracia Hemans Martin, known as the “Leather Genie,” is a master leather artisan and the heart of Grassillini Creations. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, she discovered her passion for leatherwork early on. In 2006, she opened her own storefront in Connecticut, where she now designs and builds custom leather goods like handbags, belts, wallets, motorcycle seats, and so much more.

Jamie Lundell

Jamie Lundell is a blacksmith, bladesmith, and instructor, best known as a founding partner of Dragon’s Breath Forge, a bladesmithing collective based in Wolcott, Connecticut. Jamie is a Forged in Fire champion and his work reflects a deep passion for historical weaponry, especially Viking-era blades, drawing inspiration from museum artifacts, and scholarly texts.
